Position In The Company: Founder and Owner, Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac)
Aline Yon, the founder of Dame Acupuncture, is a former Senior Global Manager in the pharmaceutical industry. After becoming a mother and experiencing firsthand the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), she decided to change careers and went back to college to study this ancient medicine. Aline believes a healthy and happy parent nurtures a happy and healthy baby; this beautiful baby will later become a citizen contributing to a better world. She wants to play her part in achieving this, one parent and one baby at a time. Aline is now a Registered Acupuncturist, practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine at Toronto Yoga Mamas, a leading perinatal wellness center. Her practice focuses on fertility, pregnancy and postpartum care. Aline also treats pain and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). She has a keen interest in psycho-somatic (stress-induced infertility anyone?) and psycho-emotional issues such as anxiety, grief and depression. Aline, who is of Chinese and Cambodian descent, was born and grew up in France, and now lives in Toronto, Canada. Being multicultural, Aline is familiar with and treats health issues specific to expats, immigrants and their descendants.
In her clinical practice, Aline has frequently noticed that many people are unaware of all the ways TCM Acupuncture can support their overall well-being: from optimizing health, to preventing and treating diseases. The benefits for prenatal and postnatal care are immense. TCM acupuncture can support fertility, ease common pregnancy discomforts such as nausea, back or sciatic pain, stress, and insomnia. It can not only help with labor preparation, but also with breech babies and small-for-date babies, all the way to postpartum support for lactation and postpartum depression. Aline is a passionate public speaker on the popularization of Traditional Chinese Medicine, giving lectures to inform parents on the multitude of benefits of TCM Acupuncture.
During the pandemic, Aline has seen too many patients suffering from stress and anxiety, with sometimes dramatic consequences for their health. Hence she recorded the 20 minute Meridian Gym, available for free at Yoga Mamas On Demand, to support them in their daily lives.
Aline also realized few people knew how to take care of themselves and stay in good health, by following TCM principles. While she always complements her TCM Acupuncture treatments with lifestyle and dietary advice, she found there was rarely enough time during consultations to educate her patients. She has therefore teamed up with the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (OCTCM), and organized public webinars on how to live with the seasons and keep healthy, especially during extremely stressful times such as the pandemic, when one is isolated and has limited resources. The webinars contain practical and easy-to-implement recommendations and are available for replay. Indeed, Aline believes education is the key to health and happiness empowerment.
What’s next? Aline is now thinking of doing mini-videos on self-care with Traditional Chinese Medicine. And she will offer online consultations, including coaching with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), a technique based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. You can follow her on Instagram @DameAcupuncture
