Feature Interview: Sacha Marie Mulligan – Empowering Change and Inspiration

Are you ready to be inspired and motivated? Then let me introduce you to Sacha Marie Mulligan – a trailblazer in the realm of personal development and positive psychology. For over two decades, Sacha has been transforming lives around the world with her ‘Be the Best You’ program. Her approach empowers individuals to embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth, leading to profound changes that last a lifetime.

Today, we have the incredible opportunity to dive into Sacha’s fascinating journey and learn from her experiences. From overcoming early struggles to becoming a successful author, motivational speaker, and positive psychology practitioner, Sacha’s story is one of resilience, courage, and unrelenting dedication to helping others thrive.

So, get ready to be inspired as Sacha shares her wisdom and insights with us. Let’s start this exciting journey together!

  1. Your journey is incredibly inspiring, Sacha. Can you take us back to the beginning and share a bit about what led you to pursue a career in positive psychology and personal development?

For me, it was actually sitting one night while fuelled with alcohol and drugs that it was almost as if someone slapped me round the face and said: “What the f*ck are you doing to yourself “. I was watching the TV late at night when an advert came on with Tony Robbins and I was so mesmerized by him that at the end of the presentation I called and bought the tapes “Yes that’s how long ago that was.“ I never told anyone as I thought they would laugh at me but it was the start of my healing journey and saw first hand the power of affirmations. I still remember that first one I repeated over and over “Every day in every way I’m becoming stronger and stronger.“ And I did.

I did then start on a journey of learning and self-awareness and discovering where I did a bereavement counseling course, and a life coach diploma but realized that what I liked most was positive psychology and wanted to become a practitioner as it’s a counselor, and life coach all in one.   Finding the positive in your situation. I started with a small talk in my local village charging just £5 to attend and the money went towards the charity that I was running the London marathon for, children with cancer and I had 72 people attend. The feedback I received was amazing and this then Set me on my journey to motivate, inspire, and empower people so that they too can change anything in their lives.

  1. “Be the Best You” is not just a program but a philosophy you embody. How did this concept originate, and what does it mean to you on a personal level?

All everyone wants in life is to be happy and being our best would certainly make us all happy. Knowing that you are doing something every day to improve and impact your life gives you a sense of achievement in life. Being the best you and focusing on your love for yourself only grows you as a person and then can ripple out to all those around you. Be the best you came together while sitting with friends and deciding on what to call my teachings and the tagline of “it’s easier than you think” because it actually is. If we take at least 15 minutes every day to focus on ourselves and make ourselves a priority we can only improve our lives in a positive way.

  1. Over the years, you’ve helped individuals navigate through various challenges such as stress, anxiety, addiction, and grief. Could you shed some light on your approach to assisting others in overcoming these obstacles?

I always share my struggles and stories as to what better way to break the ice and let those you are working with know that you have been through the issues they are facing and are out the other side.

Learning from someone who has actually been through the same crap as you can only inspire you more that anything can be achieved. I set those I work with tasks to shed light on why we think we can’t achieve things and help reprogram our mindsets.

  1. One aspect that sets you apart is your dynamic energy and ability to inspire others. How do you maintain this enthusiasm, and what strategies do you employ to keep yourself motivated on a daily basis?

On a daily basis I take time for myself, I know I am the most important person in my life. I do all my exercises to being the best version of me and this sets my day up perfectly and puts me in the perfect mindset for the day ahead. I surround myself with people who lift me and I do, read, and watch things that impact me positively. I just love to help people and keeping myself fuelled with positivity only ripples out to those I interact with on a daily basis which keeps me motivated to make a difference in the world.

  1. Your workshops and retreats, particularly in Thailand, have garnered significant attention. Could you share a memorable moment or transformational experience from one of these events?

Just recently at my last one-day event I had so many messages after that, I really had motivated them that they don’t have to stay in a place that they are not happy in within their lives. These were some words I received:

“It turns out Sacha is a woman of many talents, so when she told us about her upcoming event as a motivational speaker and coach, my sister Karen and I jumped at the chance to attend. And it didn’t disappoint! Sacha is one of the warmest, most open, and down-to-earth women I’ve ever met. Her energy and positivity are off the scale, even in the midst of sharing her jaw-dropping life story.

Anyway, Sacha, you’ll be pleased to know I’ve been awake since 5.30 am this morning doing my gratitude list, saying my affirmations, and setting my intentions for the day. I’ll be cracking on with some of the tasks on today’s to-do list this morning before my hour-long round walk to my BodyPump class.I feel grateful, energized, and motivated, and your dulcet tones are echoing around my head. Thank you so much for an amazing day yesterday, I look forward to being the best possible version of myself in the coming months and years, thanks to the tools you equipped us with yesterday. Now let’s f***ing do this!”

And that’s just one I received I really have had so many, which again keeps me motivated on my mission and they blow me away every time.

  1. Reflecting on your own journey, what have been some of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned along the way, both personally and professionally?

Personally,  To love myself to the core, the bad bits as well. To be me always. To Love my past as it’s made me who I am today and allowed me to be as strong as I am and share my journey and that my pain has become the driving force of my passion. I don’t take any crap from anyone so I’m always setting boundaries. And things only change if you are focused and consistent.   If you don’t do the work nothing will change.

Professionally, I have learned over the years that: 1. people have to want to make the changes, you cannot force them. 2. that you attract the people that are on your vibe. 3. to give the best of myself always in always. 4. you create the life you want to live.

  1. As someone who speaks nationally and internationally, what message do you hope to convey to audiences, and what impact do you aspire to make on a global scale?

My message to all my audiences is that if you learn to love yourself you deal with life differently. With self-love comes self-confidence, and self-awareness which creates a life where you can deal with all the ups and downs. Loving yourself I’d bring out the best in you and it is easier than you think.
