Bio- Paul Johnson is a British healthcare technology entrepreneur. He founded not just Lemonaid Health, but the entire direct-to-consumer telehealth category in the US. Paul moved to San Francisco in 2013 from a small village in the UK on a mission to make healthcare in the US more accessible, affordable, and convenient. Despite being told by incumbents, regulators, and investors that patients can’t be consumers, Paul and his team changed the way we think about telehealth in the US. In many ways he founded the consumerization of telehealth in the US.
Lemonaid Health helped hundreds of thousands of patients through millions of interactions in all states in the US. It was the first app on the App Store to allow patients to get treated for primary care healthcare conditions without seeing a doctor on video. It was the first service to provide much needed treatment for depression and anxiety nationally. Lemonaid Health then launched in the UK in partnership with Boots (part of Walgreens Boots Alliance), the largest drugstore chain, and quickly became the largest online doctor service operating in the UK.
Paul led Lemonaid Health to raise over $60 million from leading investors and after an 8 year journey he sold Lemonaid Health to 23andMe for $400 million in 2021. Since Lemonaid Health was acquired Paul has been advising a number of startups and coaching founder/CEOs supporting them in their own journeys.
