Bio: Robert Grant is the founder and CEO of WNY Merchant Consulting in Buffalo, NY, with over a decade of experience in the payment processing field. He is the CEO of Stay Grindin’ Inc. and Stay Grindin’ Music, specializing in artist development, music licensing and publishing. His business is credit card processing payment solutions, and his customers are business owners who accept credit card payments.
His vision for WNY Consulting is to create a sense of community and help small businesses thrive together. His mission is to treat small businesses as partners who he really enjoys collaborating and working with. Using his network to introduce them to new resources and boost their brand recognition in the community, he finds he can add value by offering new solutions to help them be more efficient and scalable. Customer service and technology are what drives his business, but honesty, transparency, and integrity are his core values. For his music label Stay Grindin’, his vision is to create an inclusive culture that believes in achieving their goals – no matter how big or small. As long as they get up every morning and get on their daily grind to achieve these goals they are part of the Stay Grindin’ family. Stay Grindin it’s not just a label, it’s a way of life.
He is regularly adapting and always looking to connect people. Because of his deep passion for being able to help business owners and local communities thrive, Robert serves on the Board of Directors for many organizations, including the Boys and Girls club of Buffalo and GROW Buffalo Business.
Robert challenges the status quo of the business world by going beyond the role of “businessman”. He is a serial entrepreneur, artist, publisher, producer, and musician known as O’Mega Red. After serving in the United States Air Force and having a successful music career, he wanted to diversify his portfolio by entering into corporate America.
Now, in this post-pandemic world, Robert knows that being flexible to new solutions help him adapt his businesses quickly. For his consulting business, online shopping was just an extension of the e-commerce solutions he was already offering. Restaurants were struggling the most with this concept and had to quickly adapt to curbside and take-out. It helped him dive deeper into that industry, with virtual terminals and the shift to contactless billing.
What advice would Robert give younger generations looking to run their own business and be successful? “It’s going to suck in the beginning. There will be tears and long nights and no sleep – but trust the process. At times no one will see the vision except you but you can’t be mad when they don’t see it you have to convert them into believers by bringing your vision to life. There will be people that come in and out of your life, maybe for a day, a week, a year – but always for a purpose and that’s ok. Listen to what people say, but watch what they do.”
